Lower School Support Groups

Lower School Support Groups

Mrs. Ingrid Grenci, Lower School Counselor, is creating support groups for children with divorced or separated parents in grades K-6. The group is open to children who recently experienced parental separation, as well as children who have been coping for many years. Issues and feelings change with maturity and experiences as family dynamics change or evolve. Mrs. Grenci has facilitated support groups for children for over 30 years, and many children request to be in the group year after year. The groups usually consist of 4 -10 students in the same grade.

Topics covered include changes in the family that occur as a result of separation, living in two houses, the grieving process, step-parenting, and blended families. There will be discussions and activities in each session. This will be a safe place for children to talk about their feelings with others and discover they are not the only ones dealing with these issues. The details or reasons for the separation are not discussed in this setting.

If you would like more information or to sign your child up, please email Mrs. Grenci at igrenci@lhprep.org as soon as possible.
